Classic Country Music Collectibles
|
I have been collecting country music collectibles for more than 40 years. I was first introduced to country music in the late 1950's when I saw Hank Snow. My mom and dad took me to almost every country music concert that came within a 50 mile radius as I was really hooked! At one of the first concerts I attended, I noticed someone at the concert with a camera and it occured to me that it would be a terrific way to have a memory of the events. At all future concerts, I would take along my camera and have my photo taken with the performers as well as taking some great photos of the artists as they performed on stage and, on many occasions, candid photos of the artists backstage. I also began to collect programs, buttons, posters and other items. The complete list of artists appears below but includes the likes of Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Faron Young, Hank Snow, Jim Reeves, Ray Price, the Louvin Brothers, Johnny Horton, Bobby Helms, Marty Robbins, Kitty Wells, Johnny and Jack, Bill Monroe and many, many more. |
My first trip to the Opry was in 1961 and I have now been more than 40 times. During the 1960's, I attended the Disc Jockey Conventions, which was a celebration of country music where I obtained many items, including promotional items that are now rare.
In 1961, I used a reel-to-reel tape recorder to capture conversations with several stars including Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves.
The very first Opry show I saw featured the likes of Patsy Cline, Flatt and Scruggs, Hawkshaw Hawkins, George Morgan, Cowboy Copas, Sonny James, Jean Shepard, the Louvin Brothers, Ferlin Husky, Ray Price, Jim Reeves, Faron Young, the legendary Jordanaires plus countless others.
In the 1960's I witnessed the emergence of country greats such as Merle Haggard and Buck Owens.
I have an entensive collection of old Opry programs and other county music promotional items.
I have photos and memorabilia for more than 100 artists. My collection includes several hundred items and very rare photographs.
As a sample, I have posted six images of items I have available for sale (click here). If you have any enquiry on any country music artist, Contact me!
If there is something you are interested in, or items relating to an artist not listed, please contact me; I probably have something in my extensive collection. I will reply to all enquiries promptly.
